Accountant

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accountant to manage accounting
operations, payroll administration, statutory compliance, and financial reporting. The
successful candidate will maintain accurate financial records, process payroll and statutory
remittances, prepare management reports, support tax compliance activities, and ensure
adherence to accounting standards, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Reporting
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
• Prepare financial schedules and supporting documents for financial statement preparation.
• Generate monthly financial and management reports for executive review.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and ensure accounting records are up to date.
• Record receivables, payments, VAT, withholding tax, and other financial transactions in the accounting system.
• Prepare and review payment schedules, payment advice, and supplier payments.
• Create and process invoices, bills, and other financial transactions using accounting software.
• Generate accounting and financial reports as required by management.
Payroll & Statutory Compliance
• Prepare, review, and process monthly payroll, staff entitlements, and performancerelated bonuses.
• Generate and distribute employee payslips.
• Prepare and process statutory remittances, including PAYE, Pension, VAT, NHF, and
NSITF.
• Ensure timely filing of VAT returns, annual PAYE returns, and other statutory obligations.
• Maintain schedules and records for statutory remittances and compliance activities.
• Support Tax Clearance Certificate (TCC) applications and related tax documentation.
• Prepare statutory compliance reports and payment breakdowns for management
review.
• Manage annual tax filings for Lagos State and other relevant states.
Operational & Administrative Support
• Maintain organized filing systems for accounting, payroll, and statutory records.
• Coordinate with employees to obtain required payroll and attendance documentation.
• Ensure compliance with company financial policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
• Support process improvement initiatives to enhance financial efficiency and accuracy.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in accounting, payroll administration, and statutory compliance.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, payroll processing, taxation, and statutory remittances.
• Proficiency in accounting software, including QuickBooks and other financial systems.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Good communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Professional accounting certification or part qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, ICAN) is an advantage.
• Experience with payroll processing and financial reporting systems.
• Strong understanding of Nigerian tax laws, statutory requirements, and regulatory compliance
